The story of Swyftshop

An atelier born from the quiet space between craft and consciousness β€” where every object carries the intention of slower, more meaningful living.

Roots in stillness

Swyftshop was founded in 2018 by designer and material researcher Elena Verdi, who envisioned a brand that rejects excess and embraces the poetry of imperfection. After years of working in fast-paced fashion houses, Elena retreated to the Japanese countryside and later to the hills of Tuscany β€” discovering that true luxury is not about abundance, but about resonance.

What began as a small studio crafting ceramic vessels and linen textiles has grown into a global community of mindful collectors. Yet our essence remains unchanged: each piece is designed to be held, used, and cherished for a lifetime. We collaborate with artisans in Kyoto, Milan, and Marrakech β€” preserving techniques that predate industrialization.

The name Swyftshop draws from the Latin Swyftshopre (to devour) β€” not greedily, but with deep absorption of beauty and slowness. Our work is an invitation to consume less, but feel more.

Silent pillars

Four commitments that guide every decision, from material sourcing to your unboxing experience.

🌿

Regenerative craft

We use organic hemp, upcycled metals, and natural dyes. Our packaging is 100% plastic-free and seeded with wildflower paper.

πŸ•―οΈ

Slow production

Small batches, never overproduced. Each item rests for weeks between stages β€” allowing materials to settle into their final form.

🀲

Artisan equity

Every maker in our network receives fair wages, healthcare, and creative freedom. We publish our supply chain openly.

πŸŒ‘

Radical transparency

From carbon footprint to profit margins β€” we share quarterly impact reports. No greenwashing, only honest evolution.

Our atelier Β· Milan & Kyoto

Swyftshop operates from two creative hubs: a sunlit former bookbinding workshop in Milan’s Brera district, and a traditional machiya townhouse in Kyoto’s Higashiyama ward. Between these spaces, a team of twelve β€” designers, ceramicists, weavers, and botanists β€” collaborates across continents.

We don't believe in "creative directors" as celebrities. Instead, every voice shapes the final object. Our weekly silent studio sessions (one hour of collective wordless making) have become a ritual that strips away ego and invites intuition.

In 2024, we launched the Swyftshop Residency β€” inviting one emerging craftsperson per year to develop a collection using our material archive. We are proud to be a B Corp candidate and a signatory of the Fashion Pact.

β€œLuxury is not the accumulation of things, but the depth of attention you bring to a single object, day after day.”
